Re-Konstruct Abstract Collection 2006. Zeus.
Posted: Sep 25, 04:43 pmZeus was the god of mount Olympus. He was associated with thunder and sky. He is the most powerful god within Greek Mythology and his symbols are the thunder bolt, eagle, bull and oak.
Zeus was an incredibly powerful god and had the ability to transform himself into almost any animal or form. He is renowned for his infidelity and pursuit of young nymphs and beautiful mortals. Sometimes he is depicted with a burly alpha male physique. However I prefer to visualize Zeus as the Cretans do. In Cretan art Zeus is depicted as a long haired youthful character. He was named as Ho Megos Kouros “the great youth”.
In these illustrations I am interested in depicting his physical strength and his ability to transform into various physical forms. I have used line, form and color to try to depict the characteristics of Zeus. I used contrasting colorways as the designs are intended to be high impact to refer to the the powerful charisma that Zeus was associated with.
