Profile
Caitlin Shepherd is an environmental artist and campaigner. Since graduating from Camberwell College of the Arts, University of the Arts London, Caitlin has practiced as a printed textile designer. Her textile work focuses on exploring and communicating human relationships with landscape and place, and encourages audiences to explore reverence and appreciation for themselves and an inter-dependency of well being with the natural environment.
A co founder and director of the anti food waste campaign This is Rubbish (www.thisisrubbish.org.uk), Caitlin conceptulizes and produces sustainable awareness raising art and environmental events. She is a sustainability and arts coordinator and co founder of The Antic Establishment, a sustainable events company who run a their own festival Antic Banquet and a large area, Valley of the Antics at The Secret Garden Party. Having conceptualized and production managed the This is Rubbish installation at Feeding the 5000 in Trafalgar Square (a free feast for 5000 people made entirely from food that otherwise would’ve gone to waste), she successfully coordinated and managed the production and theatrical distribution of 1000litres of fruit smoothie, made from fruit that otherwise would’ve been wasted. Caitlin continues to work with This is Rubbish, curating new takes on sustainable feasting; feeding people with surplus food and creating innovative and beautiful environments from materials that otherwise would’ve gone to waste.
