Music to Image: May 2007

This project was a photographic exploration of costume, dance and unusual location of enchanting yet haunting characters. In this shoot I was exploring the visual language of glamorous and macabre style. I wanted to create a fantasy world where nothing was as it seemed and everything was beautiful but disfigured. By painting the models bodies I was experimenting with opposites and effacement. There was a performance aspect to this work as the models lost their usual identity and became something / one specific to the location and duration of the shoot. I was again exploring emotions through physical positioning to do with reliance, dependence, unsatisfied expectations and loneliness.
